Nursing profession

Berusbild

The healthcare sector in Germany offers crisis-proof jobs with numerous career opportunities – especially for foreign nurses.

Nursing as a profession is not practiced the same way all over the world – in Germany there are some peculiarities.

You can find further information on this in the brochure of the Kuratorium Deutsche Altershilfe, which provides comprehensive information on labor migration into the care sector in Germany.

By 2062, it is expected that there will be around 4.53 million people in need of care throughout Germany.
According to nursing care statistics, the number of people in need of care in Germany amounted to approximately 3.4 million in 2017. Compared to 2000, this represents an increase of 70%.

Projected demand until 2035:

Wages in nursing:

During the professional recognition process, our candidates receive the salary of a nursing assistant, which is currently €2,751 gross. After successful recognition, the salary is €3,305 gross.

Skilled Workers Immigration Act

On March 1, 2020, the German government introduced new framework conditions to make it easier for skilled workers from abroad to work in Germany.
The Skilled Workers Immigration Act regulates not only the residence requirements but also sets the guidelines for successful employment of foreign professionals.

Categories of Countries of Origin

Due to different immigration conditions, foreign skilled workers are divided into three categories:

  • EU / EEA states

  • Third countries with visa-free entry

  • All other third countries

Under the EU Freedom of Movement Act, citizens of the EU and EEA have unrestricted access to the German labor market.
They do not require a visa or residence permit to work in Germany.

Citizens of third countries generally need a visa to enter Germany and must convert it into a residence permit after arrival in order to continue living and working in Germany.

WHO List Compliance

Please note that applications can only be accepted if your country of origin is not listed on the WHO list of countries with their own shortage of healthcare professionals.
WHO List 2021

To sustainably counteract the predicted shortage of skilled workers, we at LDPERSONAL follow the principle of promoting migration from countries not affected by demographic decline.
Countries with high potential and a sufficient pool of qualified professionals can be found particularly in Kosovo and Albania.

These regions have many young and well-trained professionals who often face unemployment or underemployment in their home countries.
They also often lack career prospects, which encourages them to emigrate.

Preferred Countries of Origin

Strong economic, political, socio-cultural, and intercultural ties between the countries of origin and Germany are beneficial for both sides.

For this reason, LDPERSONAL primarily recruits professionals from the following countries:

  • Kosovo

  • Albania

  • Bosnia

  • Philippines (pilot project)

  • India (pilot project)
